April began taking tap, jazz, and ballet at  the age of 6 at Butler University in Indianapolis.  After moving to Fort Wayne at age 11, she began taking lessons at Fort Wayne School of Dance.  At FWSD, April was fortunate to start as an instructor at the mere age of 13.  In addition to taking classes and instructing at FWSD, she also was in the North Side dance program for all four years of high school. Her freshman year, April was already choreographing for her peers in the upper level classes.  As a North Side dance-skin, she was also blessed with the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia and Miami for The National High School Dance Festivals.  After graduating from North Side, April continued on as a dance instructor.  Through the years, she has taken her students to multiple national dance competitions in Orlando, Las Vegas, and New York, to name a few.  Many of April’s dance numbers have been fortunate to win national titles and have been selected for numerous specialty awards.  She has also received best choreography awards at Dance Olympus and Showcase of Stars.
